The Japanese animated feature drew 119,961 admissions on Oct. 11, enough to reclaim No. 1 with a margin of just 11,914 tickets, according to the Korean Film Council (KOFIC). Its Korean total has now reached 1,281,485.
Based on Nagano’s hit manga, the film follows Chiikawa and friends to a mysterious island after the promise of a reward 100 times larger than usual draws them into an increasingly strange mission.
