‘Posh’ Returns With a New Cast for Another Night Inside the Riot Club

[News Culture] The dinner begins with wealth, alcohol and the easy confidence of young men accustomed to belonging in the room. Before the night is over, however, the polished rituals of an elite Oxford dining club begin to expose something less refined underneath.

Laura Wade’s Posh is returning to the Korean stage with a newly assembled cast, reopening the doors to the Riot Club and the closed world of privilege that sustains it.

Set around an exclusive Oxford University society, the play brings together young members raised in affluent families for an extravagant evening of food, drinking and private ritual. What initially looks like a night of unchecked amusement gradually reveals a hierarchy of its own, as the club’s traditions collide with individual ambition, resentment and different ideas about what their inherited privilege entitles them to do.

The dinner table is therefore more than the setting. It is the mechanism through which the play studies class.

The club members share money, education and access, but they do not occupy that world in precisely the same way. Some are invested in preserving its traditions, others are determined to rise within its internal hierarchy, while newer members must decide how far they are willing to adapt to a culture that expects loyalty to itself.

As the evening progresses, those differences begin to destabilize the camaraderie that initially holds the group together. Jokes become tests of belonging, ritual becomes a means of enforcing rank, and the freedom the members assume they possess increasingly reveals the social distance between the Riot Club and everyone outside it.

The new Korean production combines returning performers with actors joining the play for the first time, making casting a significant part of how this season will reshape that ensemble dynamic.

Kim Pyeong-jo and Song Hee-jung will play pub owner Chris (Kate), an outsider to the Riot Club whose establishment becomes the temporary territory for its private dinner. Positioned beyond the club’s internal loyalties, the character provides a contrasting perspective on the behavior unfolding in the room.

Cha Hyun-sung, Park Seo-hu and Lee So-young share the role of Guy, whose desire to become the club’s next leader places ambition directly inside the group’s social hierarchy.

Park Jwa-heon, Kim Aron and Lee Jung-min will play James (Jamie), the club’s leader and a figure closely associated with the traditions and order that define the Riot Club.

Kim Ri-hyun, Kim Kyung-rok and Lee Sang-kyung take on Alistair, whose aggressive energy brings another pressure point to the dinner. Kim Jun-sik, Kang Eun-bin and Lee Jae-eun play Harry (Hera), while Jang Won-hyuk, Ji Byung-hyun and Cho Young-hwa appear as Hugo (Charlotte).

The production also casts Cho Sung-pil, Jung Ji-woo and Lee Sa-gye as Miles, a new member entering the Riot Club for the first time. His position gives the play another way into its closed social structure: the audience can watch not only how the club behaves, but how someone newly admitted to it learns its codes and confronts the expectations attached to membership.

Min Ho-jun, Lucas and Lee Chae-won play Dimitri (Valentina). Kim Woo-jin, Eton and Park Ji-ye appear as George (Joy), while Kim Yi-jun, Yoon Yeo-baek and Ryu Han-na take on Ed (Eddie). Kim Han-bin, Hong Soon-gi and Pyo Baha share the role of Toby (Tobias).

Outside the club itself, Kwon Seung-ah and Kim Han-bin play Rachel (Raymond), the university student who works at the pub and is Chris’ child. Lee Jae-eun, Moon Su-bin and Gong Sung-min appear as Charlie, who is invited to the dinner.

Kim Han-bin and Lee Jae-eun each take on two different roles across the production, adding another variable to a season already built around multiple casting combinations.

With such a large rotating ensemble, the casting can alter more than individual characterization. Posh depends on the collective temperature of the room: who appears most comfortable with power, who strains against the club’s hierarchy, who treats its rituals as unquestionable and who begins to expose their contradictions.

Different combinations can therefore change the balance of the dinner even while Wade’s dramatic structure remains intact.

That ensemble structure is particularly important to a play in which privilege rarely belongs to a single villain. The Riot Club operates as a group, with its rules, traditions and shared assumptions allowing individual behavior to gather force. What begins as a gathering of privileged students becomes a study of what can happen when a closed community develops its own standards for what is acceptable.

The attraction of Posh lies partly in that contrast. Its characters move through a world of expensive tastes, elite education and inherited confidence, yet the play is less interested in the elegance associated with that world than in what the elegance can conceal.

As the dinner begins to fracture, class is no longer simply background information attached to the characters. It becomes an active force in the room, shaping how they understand authority, consequence and the people whose lives exist outside their social circle.

The new season returns to that dinner table with different faces, but the central tension remains: what happens when people raised to expect access and influence encounter limits that their own world has taught them not to recognize?

Posh runs from Nov. 3, 2026, through Jan. 24, 2027, at The Good Theater in Seoul’s Daehangno theater district.
