[News Culture] PLAVE opened its first world tour by turning Incheon Munhak Stadium into a giant media-art stage, using massive-scale visuals and live performance elements to push the boundaries of what a virtual idol concert can look like.
The virtual boy group launched the 2026 PLAVE World Tour “KEEP IT MANIC” with two shows on Sept. 12 and 13, marking both the start of its first global tour and its first stadium appearance.
At the center of the production was an LED installation measuring roughly 120 meters wide and 20 meters high, the largest ever used for a concert at the stadium. Rather than functioning as a conventional video backdrop, the screen was integrated into the choreography and staging, creating a continuous visual environment around the virtual members.
The scale became apparent from the opening. Following Noah’s dramatic archery sequence, PLAVE launched into “The 6th Summer,” before moving through fan favorites including “Hide and Seek” and “WAY 4 LUV.”
The members also reflected on how far the group has come, recalling a time when performing at this scale seemed unimaginable. They bowed deeply to their fandom, PLLI, in a moment that underscored the significance of the group’s first stadium show.
The concert moved freely across styles rather than relying on one visual concept. “Heung Heung Heung” drew a loud singalong from the crowd, while “Chroma Drift” was reworked with a jazz arrangement that gave the group more room to play with movement and virtual staging.
Each member also received a solo spotlight designed around a different visual identity. Yejun’s stage drew on the romantic atmosphere of “La La Land,” Eunho leaned into a sensual dance break, Hamin emphasized sharp point choreography, Noah adopted a vampire-inspired concept, and Bamby filled the stage with a more theatrical performance style.
The members also unveiled updated styling following last year’s “Dash: Quantum Leap,” giving the production a new visual identity.
Some of the most striking moments came from performances that deliberately blurred the line between digital characters and physical space.
“Watch Me Woo!” and “Rizz” incorporated real-time fan effects with an East Asian visual motif, while “Born Savage” paired PLAVE’s virtual members with live performers onstage. The interaction between the two created one of the clearest demonstrations of the concert’s central idea: virtual and physical performance operating as one.
That hybrid approach helped the show feel less like a screen-based presentation and more like a large-scale arena production built around PLAVE’s format.
The encore added another surprise with the first performance of an unreleased song scheduled for a future release. During Sunday’s show, members of dance crew HOOK, who participated in creating the choreography for “That’s How It Seems,” were also spotted on the stadium screen, drawing cheers from the audience.
Saturday’s concert included a surprise birthday celebration for Yejun, adding a more personal moment to a production otherwise defined by scale and technology.
The members told fans they hoped the weekend would remain “a precious scene” when they look back years from now.
For PLAVE, the Incheon shows represented more than a larger venue. The group has grown from early appearances associated with Hongdae into an act capable of filling a stadium-scale production with its own visual language, performance system and fan culture.
“KEEP IT MANIC” now moves overseas, with stops scheduled in Kanagawa on Sept. 26 and 27, followed by Kaohsiung, Bangkok, Singapore, Taipei and Macau. The tour will continue to Los Angeles on Nov. 14.
