[News Culture] MODYSSEY is turning its early momentum into a wider international run, drawing a strong response at a major music festival in Qingdao before meeting fans at a local signing event.
The seven-member group performed at the NEWMARS Music Festival on Aug. 8 and held the fan event the following day. The trip marked another step in a China campaign that has kept the rookie act in front of local audiences throughout the summer.
Produced with the participation of a media group affiliated with China’s state broadcaster CCTV, NEWMARS receives coverage across major Chinese platforms including Weibo, Douyin and Sina. MODYSSEY appeared on a bill that also featured popular Chinese acts Huang Zihongfan and TF_ING.
The group tailored its four-song set to the Qingdao crowd. Alongside debut track “HOOK,” MODYSSEY performed the Mandarin version of GOT7’s “Lullaby” and a cover of the Chinese hit “Find Myself” (找自己).
The Mandarin performances proved to be a highlight, allowing the members to engage directly with the audience. Chants of “SAY SAY MODYSSEY” rang through the venue as the group worked the stage with an energetic, easygoing presence.
That enthusiasm carried into the next day’s fan signing. The members spent time speaking with attendees individually, turning the event into a more intimate follow-up to the festival performance.
China is quickly becoming a key part of MODYSSEY’s touring map. The group held a signing in Shanghai in May and returned to the same venue for an additional fan event in July. It also performed at Bilibili World 2026, one of China’s largest events for animation, gaming and online culture.
The group has built a solid base elsewhere as well. Debut single album “1. Got Hooked: An Addictive Symphony” sold more than 300,000 copies in its first week, while MODYSSEY collected honors at the 2026 Seoul Music Awards and KMA 2026. Appearances at KCON Japan and the Seoul Park Music Festival have further expanded its reach beyond the rookie circuit.
Los Angeles is next. MODYSSEY will perform at KCON LA 2026, running Aug. 14–16 at the Los Angeles Convention Center and Crypto.com Arena.
MODYSSEY was formed with contestants who earned their debut through Mnet audition programs “Boys II Planet” and “Planet C: Home Race.” The group recently wrapped the second season of its reality series, “Sse.Sse.Mo: NO EXIT,” closing the finale with a hint that another season could be on the way.
