[News Culture] BIGBANG is going big for its 20th anniversary.
The K-pop heavyweights will release “BiiiG” on Aug. 19, exactly 20 years after their debut. The song arrives just two days before the group opens its new world tour in Goyang.
YG Entertainment announced the digital single on Aug. 10, unveiling its first poster through the company’s official blog. “BiiiG” is BIGBANG’s first new group track since “Still Life” in April 2022.
Even the spelling makes a statement. By stretching “BIG” into “BiiiG,” the title plays on the group’s name while teasing a comeback designed to feel larger, bolder and unlike anything it has done before.
The poster carries that idea through three colors: blue for G-Dragon, red for Taeyang and yellow for Daesung. All three have built formidable careers of their own, but the artwork brings their individual identities back under one name. Three colors, three artists, one BIGBANG.
The timing makes “BiiiG” more than an anniversary release. It is the first step in a new chapter that will move almost immediately from a digital comeback to a global stage.
BIGBANG will open its “XX : COSMOS” tour in Goyang on Aug. 21 before heading to 19 cities across North America, Europe, Oceania and Asia.
Talk of a larger album project has already begun, although YG has yet to announce one. The speculation follows a recent rollout by labelmate BLACKPINK, which paired the advance single “JUMP” with a world tour before releasing its full-length album “DEADLINE.” Whether BIGBANG has a similar plan remains to be seen.
BIGBANG enters its third decade with one of K-pop’s most influential catalogs behind it. Songs such as “Lies,” “Haru Haru” and “Still Life” have kept the group’s presence intact across generations, even as G-Dragon, Taeyang and Daesung pursued separate paths.
YG described “BiiiG” as the song that best captures where BIGBANG stands today, 20 years into its career.
Now, with new music on the way and a 19-city tour ready to begin, BIGBANG is no longer looking back at its legacy. The group is adding to it.
