That deception sets Netflix’s “Our Sticky Love” in motion. Premiering Aug. 7, the romantic comedy stars Ha Young as Go Eun-sae, an ambitious prosecutor whose investigation ends in an accident and total memory loss. Jung Hae-in plays Jang Tae-ha, a former gangster now coaching at a boxing gym, who brings her to a quiet village and invents a relationship to keep her alive.
Living under the same roof leaves Eun-sae with little choice but to rely on a man she does not remember. Tae-ha, meanwhile, must maintain a lie that becomes harder to control as old feelings resurface.
The rural setting gives their romance room to breathe, but danger is never far behind. Gang boss Baek Sang-gil, played by Heo Sung-tae, learns that the prosecutor he thought was dead has survived and sets out to finish the job.
Director Kim Jang-han said the series was built around the pleasures of romantic comedy while keeping its characters recognizable. His goal was to make even the most heightened personalities feel like people viewers might encounter in everyday life.
Jung Hae-in and Ha Young Turn a Lie Into a Second Chance
Jang Tae-ha is trying to leave his criminal past behind when he comes face to face with Eun-sae, his first love. Protecting her requires a lie that could cost him his life: he tells the amnesiac prosecutor that they are a couple.
The role allows Jung to move between deadpan comedy, action and restrained romance. Tae-ha may have survived by keeping his emotions buried, but sharing a home with Eun-sae gradually strips away that reserve.
Ha Young’s Eun-sae is no passive victim. Before the accident, she was known as Go Ji-won, a formidable prosecutor closing in on a dangerous case. Memory loss places her in unfamiliar surroundings, but it does not erase her instincts or confidence. Her growing suspicion of Tae-ha becomes part of the attraction, giving their domestic life an edge beyond the usual forced-proximity romance.
Heo provides the threat hanging over them. As Baek Sang-gil, he plays a crime boss whose certainty begins to unravel when the prosecutor he ordered killed suddenly reappears.
Yeot Village Brings Warmth to a Romance Built on Danger
Away from the chase, “Our Sticky Love” draws much of its humor and heart from the residents of Yeot Village.
Kim Young-ok plays Tae-ha’s grandmother Go Yeon-hong, while Jeon Bae-soo and Seo Jeong-yeon appear as Hong Do-yeop and Do Jeong-hwa, the couple who run Hong Boxing Gym and provide Tae-ha with a sense of home.
Jang Hye-jin, Cha Chung-hwa and Kim Mi-hwa form the village’s lively trio, with Lee Jae-won, Jung Soon-won and Choi Yoo-ju rounding out the ensemble.
Kim described the villagers as people who discover unfamiliar sides of themselves through new relationships. Their stories give the series a warmer emotional base, balancing the central romance with found family and second chances.
Mixing cohabitation comedy with crime, action and small-town warmth, “Our Sticky Love” arrives on Netflix worldwide at 5 p.m. KST on Aug. 7.
