[News Culture] Park Seo-jin has never been one to economize when it comes to his hobbies. Now, his younger sister is putting him on a strict budget.
On the Aug. 8 episode of KBS2’s “Mr. House Husband,” Park and his sister Hyo-jung will take on a modern version of the “Happiness for 10,000 Won” challenge. Adjusted for 2026 prices, each must cover an entire day’s food and transportation with only 16,500 won.
Hyo-jung arrives prepared with a packed lunch and bottled water. Park, meanwhile, leaves home empty-handed—a decision that begins draining his limited cash almost immediately.
The challenge follows the unveiling of Park’s folk painting room, where shelves are stacked with premium paper, brushes, pigments and other supplies. His collection reportedly cost around 20 million won, drawing disbelief from both Hyo-jung and the studio panel.
Convinced that her brother needs a financial reality check, Hyo-jung proposes the one-day spending cap. Park accepts, but sticking to it proves harder than expected.
By the time he reaches KBS for work, too much of his budget is already gone. Short on cash, he turns his recent hobby into a side hustle and begins drawing caricatures in the comedians’ lounge.
“I’ll draw anything if you pay me,” Park declares as he searches for customers. His sales pitch, along with a surprisingly steady hand, soon turns the budget crisis into an impromptu comedy act.
The visit may bring him more than extra cash. Park, who has often named comedians as his ideal type, is asked to choose someone from the room—adding a hint of romance to the afternoon.
Having never dated in his 32 years, Park now finds himself facing two unfamiliar challenges at once: spending less and possibly making a new connection.
