IVE will step onto a Major League Baseball field later this month after receiving an official invitation from the New York Mets to participate in the club's July 26 home game against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Citi Field.
According to Starship Entertainment, member Jang Won-young will throw the ceremonial first pitch, marking the group's first official appearance at an MLB game. The event will also include special content featuring former Korean major leaguers Kim Byung-hyun and Dustin Nippert.
For Jang, the appearance extends a growing connection with baseball events, following previous ceremonial pitching appearances in South Korea. Taking the mound at Citi Field adds a U.S. stop to that list as IVE continues to broaden its activities beyond the concert stage.
The MLB invitation comes in the middle of the group's "SHOW WHAT I AM" North American tour, which includes performances in Newark, New Jersey, on July 25 and Austin, Texas, on July 29.
The appearance adds another high-profile engagement to IVE's expanding overseas schedule, following international festival performances and continued activity in the U.S. music market.
"We're grateful to the New York Mets for inviting us," IVE said through its agency. "It's an honor to be part of a game watched by baseball fans around the world."
