JTBC's new weekend drama "The Apartment Job" premieres tonight (July 11) at 10:40 p.m., launching with an intense showdown that showcases the commanding presence of its veteran cast.
The series follows Park Hae-gang (Ji Sung), the former leader of the Oasis gang, who runs for the apartment residents' association presidency to uncover hidden money concealed within the complex. Alongside the residents, he sets out to expose corruption lurking behind the seemingly ordinary neighborhood. The drama stars Ji Sung, Ha Yoon-kyung, Park Byung-eun and Moon So-ri.
The first episode opens inside a gambling den, where VIP customer Do Ma-baem (Kim Won-hae) throws the room into disarray. After shaking off Big Doong-i (Kim Gyu-won), who attempts to calm him down, he scatters playing cards across the floor and sends the entire venue into chaos.
Watching from a distance, Park Hae-gang finally steps in to restore order. His slow, deliberate walk and icy glare immediately seize control of the room, revealing the quiet authority of a man whose reputation still speaks for itself.
The confrontation between the reckless high-roller and the former gang boss sets up one of the drama's first major turning points, raising anticipation over how their unexpected relationship will unfold.
According to the production team, Ji Sung and Kim Won-hae delivered exceptional on-screen chemistry while filming the sequence. Kim fully embodied the explosive temperament of an out-of-control gambler, while Ji Sung projected overwhelming authority through restrained acting and a commanding screen presence rather than excessive dialogue.
"The Apartment Job" is written by Kim Yoon-young, who previously penned "My Strange Hero," and directed by Cho Yong-won, winner of the Seoul Drama Awards' Best Director honor for "I Am Looking for a Child."
