Producer MATTHEW of hip-hop collective OKASHII and wnsday of ARCHYPE have joined forces for their first collaborative album, PURITY, a project built around the idea of preserving artistic sincerity through music.
The album was released on July 10 across major streaming platforms, according to agencies POV and ARCHYPE.
The project originated from an idea MATTHEW developed two years ago and evolved through the pair's creative exchanges on SoundCloud. Reflecting on how life's demands can gradually erode one's sense of innocence, MATTHEW said the album grew from his realization that making music remained the one place where he could stay true to himself.
That idea became the emotional foundation of PURITY, shaping both its concept and sound.
The 12-track album is led by title song "TOWEL" featuring MEENOI and Yoon Da Hye, alongside secondary title track "LOOKING FOR" featuring Colde. Guest appearances from Kid Milli, MEENOI, Colde, and Raf Sandou further expand the record's musical palette.
Known for carving out distinctive identities within Korea's hip-hop scene, MATTHEW and wnsday use PURITY to merge their contrasting styles into a project centered on authenticity rather than trends, presenting a broader alternative sound while remaining rooted in hip-hop.
Speaking at a listening session held recently in Seoul's Seongsu district, MATTHEW also revealed that PURITY will mark the conclusion of this phase of experimentation.
"After this project, I plan to focus more on hip-hop than alternative music," he said.
