BTS have once again demonstrated why they remain one of the defining forces in global pop culture, as the group's long-awaited return continues to generate record-breaking results across streaming, album sales and live touring.
According to figures released Tuesday by BigHit Music, citing global music analytics firm Luminate and Billboard Boxscore, BTS' fifth full-length album, "ARIRANG," and its accompanying world tour have delivered exceptional commercial performance worldwide.
Luminate data shows the group accumulated 3.8 billion global audio streams during the album's first eight weeks, while their overall catalog surpassed 5.3 billion streams during the same period. In the United States, "ARIRANG" sold more than 810,000 physical copies, finishing as the country's top-selling album.
The band's touring business has proved equally dominant. BTS generated $127.8 million from 12 concerts in May alone, topping Billboard's Top Tours chart and setting a new monthly revenue record for a group.
Rather than reflecting fan power alone, the results underscore how BTS' musical identity has become increasingly intertwined with the global rise of Korean popular culture. During the group's nearly four-year hiatus, the members' individual careers—including Jung Kook's global success as a solo artist—expanded the group's audience while sustaining worldwide interest ahead of the reunion.
That momentum accelerated further through high-profile promotional events, including the "Gwanghwamun Comeback Live" broadcast on Netflix, which brought the group's return directly to audiences around the world.
The broader K-culture ecosystem has also reinforced BTS' renewed momentum. The group's tour-linked THE CITY project extended the concert experience into destinations across multiple cities, driving travel, retail and entertainment engagement beyond the arena itself.
The data also suggests BTS continue to reach listeners outside the traditional K-pop audience. According to the release, Latin hip-hop listeners accounted for a notable share of new audience growth, illustrating the group's expanding appeal across genres and demographics.
The latest achievements reflect more than commercial success. They demonstrate BTS' ability to convert artistic storytelling into sustained mainstream engagement, strengthening both its global fanbase and its reach among new listeners.
With cumulative tour revenue approaching the $200 million mark, BTS are poised to set another career milestone as the world tour continues.
The group will resume the tour with two concerts in Brussels, Belgium, on July 1 and 2.
