ENA's Doctor on the Edge pivots from romance to high-stakes drama in Episode 9 as newly reunited couple Do Ji-ui (Lee Jae-wook) and Yuk Ha-ri (Shin Ye-eun) are drawn into an unexpected crisis on Jin-eon Island.
The previous episode saw Ha-ri come to terms with saying goodbye to Oh Mi-ja (Gil Hae-yeon) before finally confessing her feelings to Ji-ui, culminating in an emotional kiss that marked a new chapter in their relationship. That happiness, however, proves to be short-lived.
Traveling to Jin-eon Island together, Ji-ui appears noticeably calmer than before despite his long-standing fear of the sea, thanks to Ha-ri's presence. Their quiet getaway, however, quickly gives way to an unforeseen emergency.
Newly released stills show the village chief of Jin-eon Island suddenly grabbing Ji-ui by the collar before collapsing in tears. The shocking encounter leaves both Ji-ui and Ha-ri visibly shaken, raising fresh questions about the incident unfolding on the island.
Elsewhere, Yong Ju-cheon (Kim Yoon-woo) faces an unexpected new challenge when Kim Ji-woong (Kim Sung-jung), whom he had already regarded warily because of his connection to Eom Jeong-seon (Lee Soo-kyung), turns up as his patient. Their contrasting reactions during a treatment session promise both dramatic tension and lighthearted moments.
Kim Ji-woong's arrival is also expected to reshape the dynamic between Jeong-seon and Ju-cheon, adding another layer of uncertainty to the drama's evolving romance.
The production team said Episode 9 will feature both the sweetness of Ji-ui and Ha-ri's renewed relationship and a major new incident on Jin-eon Island, while significant changes also await Jeong-seon and Ju-cheon's storyline.
Episode 9 of Doctor on the Edge airs June 29 at 10 p.m. KST on ENA.
