Pixar's Toy Story 5 dominated the South Korean box office in its first weekend of release, drawing 713,071 admissions over the three-day period and extending its reign atop the chart to five consecutive days.
According to the Korean Film Council (KOFIC), the animated sequel attracted 287,038 moviegoers on June 21 alone, bringing its cumulative admissions total to 872,553.
The film follows Jessie, Woody, Buzz Lightyear and their fellow toys as they reunite for an unpredictable adventure after Bonnie's new smart-tablet companion, LilyPad, introduces an unprecedented challenge to their world.
Colony remained in second place with 63,121 admissions on Sunday. The survival thriller has now amassed 5,527,525 admissions nationwide.
Starring Jun Ji-hyun, Koo Kyo-hwan, Ji Chang-wook, Shin Hyun-been, Kim Shin-rock and Ko Soo, the film centers on survivors trapped inside a quarantined building during a mysterious outbreak that transforms the infected into increasingly unpredictable threats.
Wild Sing ranked third with 45,799 admissions, lifting its cumulative admissions total to 1,100,567 and officially joining Korea's million-admission club.
The comedy follows the members of a once-popular co-ed dance group who reunite 20 years after an abrupt breakup in pursuit of an unlikely comeback.
Horror hit Backrooms placed fourth with 22,445 admissions, bringing its cumulative total to 1,086,767.
Kim Jaejoong's occult horror film The Shrine: Whisper of the Evil Spirit rounded out the top five with 6,973 admissions. Its cumulative total reached 33,421.
The film follows shaman Myung-jin as he investigates the disappearance of three university students following a visit to an abandoned shrine in Kobe, Japan.
