With the premiere of Disney+'s A Shop for Killers Season 2 approaching in July, viewers will have an opportunity to revisit the action thriller's first chapter before the story continues.
MBC will air a special broadcast of Season 1 on July 3, giving audiences a chance to retrace the journey of Jeong Ji-an, played by Kim Hye-jun, whose fight for survival became one of the series' defining elements.
Based on the story of a young woman targeted by a network of assassins after inheriting a dangerous legacy from her uncle Jin-man (Lee Dong-wook), A Shop for Killers blended high-stakes action with an emotionally driven coming-of-age narrative. At the center was Ji-an, an ordinary woman forced into extraordinary circumstances after her uncle's death upended her life.
Throughout Season 1, Ji-an uncovered the truth behind her uncle's mysterious business while fighting to stay alive against relentless attacks from professional killers. Kim anchored the character's journey with a performance that balanced fear, grief and determination, capturing the psychological toll of survival without losing sight of Ji-an's resilience.
As the series progressed, Ji-an evolved from an unprepared target into someone capable of making difficult decisions under pressure. That transformation became one of the season's central strengths, supported by Kim's blend of emotional depth and increasingly demanding action sequences.
Season 2 is expected to push that evolution even further.
While Season 1 focused on Ji-an's struggle to survive a world she barely understood, the new season positions her as a far more capable and battle-tested figure. Armed with greater experience and confidence, she is set to confront new threats while taking on greater responsibility within the organization left behind by her uncle.
Having survived the chaos that defined her past, Ji-an now faces a different challenge: leading the shopping mall operation at the center of the story. How she navigates that responsibility—and the dangers that come with it—will be one of the key questions driving Season 2.
