Colony continued to dominate the Korean box office on Tuesday, while horror breakout Backrooms crossed one million admissions ahead of the highly anticipated debut of Pixar's Toy Story 5.
According to the Korean Film Council's integrated ticketing network on June 17, Colony drew 32,022 moviegoers on June 16, retaining the No. 1 position. The film's cumulative admissions now stand at 5,278,728.
The disaster thriller follows a group of survivors trapped inside a quarantined building during a mysterious outbreak, where they must battle infected beings that evolve into increasingly unpredictable forms. The cast includes Jun Ji-hyun, Koo Kyo-hwan, Ji Chang-wook, Shin Hyun-been, Kim Shin-rock and Ko Soo.
Wild Sing remained in second place with 25,000 admissions, raising its cumulative total to 918,399.
The comedy centers on Triangle, a once-popular co-ed dance trio whose career collapsed after an unexpected scandal. Twenty years later, the former stars reunite for one last shot at a comeback. Kang Dong-won, Park Ji-hyun, Uhm Tae-goo and Oh Jung-se lead the ensemble cast.
Holding steady at No. 3, Backrooms added 12,242 admissions and officially surpassed the one-million-ticket milestone, reaching a cumulative total of 1,000,219.
The horror film follows Clark and Mary as they become trapped in a surreal maze of yellow walls and endless fluorescent hallways, where a series of inexplicable events unfolds.
Steven Spielberg's sci-fi thriller Disclosure Day ranked fourth with 9,976 admissions, bringing its cumulative audience to 215,010.
The film explores the societal and psychological fallout that erupts after humanity learns the truth about the existence of intelligent extraterrestrial life.
Biographical music drama Michael rounded out the Top 5 with 3,563 admissions. Its cumulative total now stands at 1,595,806.

Meanwhile, all eyes are on Toy Story 5, which opened in Korea on June 17 after generating strong advance demand. Real-time ticket reservations had reached 144,755 as of Wednesday morning, positioning the Pixar sequel for a potentially strong debut at the local box office.
