Actress Joo Hae Eun is set to join The Roundup 5, becoming one of the new faces in the latest installment of Korea's blockbuster action-crime franchise.
On June 1, her agency Yubon Company announced that Joo will appear in the film as Jung Ji Won, a profiler who plays a key role in the investigation.
The fifth entry in The Roundup series follows detective Ma Seok Do (Ma Dong Seok) as he takes on Lee Kang Tae (Kim Jae Young), a criminal who begins committing a series of brutal offenses after eight years of silence. The franchise previously made Korean box office history by becoming the first domestic film series to produce three consecutive 10-million-admission hits.
In the film, Joo portrays profiler Jung Ji Won, who works closely with the Metropolitan Investigation Unit in tracking down an increasingly sophisticated criminal organization. The character is expected to bring fresh energy to the story while forming a strong investigative partnership with Ma Seok Do.
Joo has steadily built her reputation through projects spanning multiple genres since making her debut in the film Swing Kids. She later appeared in Netflix's The Bequeathed and Hellbound Season 2, adding memorable performances across both mystery and supernatural dramas. She also received praise for her brief but impactful appearance as Yeom Se Ryeong in Disney+'s Nine Puzzles last year.
With her proven acting range and growing body of work, attention is already turning to how Joo will leave her mark on one of Korea's most successful film franchises.
Production on The Roundup 5 officially began on May 24.
