RBW has unveiled a new blueprint for K-pop intellectual property expansion through a collaborative project that brings together public institutions, technology startups, and fandom communities.
On May 29, RBW and its subsidiary DSP Media announced the launch of an immersive spatial-audio audiobook powered by artist AI voices, developed through the Gyeonggi Content Agency's Open Innovation for Shared Growth initiative.
The project represents a breakthrough for technology partnerships that are often difficult to pursue due to financial constraints. With policy support from a public institution, RBW partnered with spatial-audio specialist Audioguy while incorporating fan-created narratives into the foundation of the content. The result is a collaborative structure in which artists and fans participate as co-creators.
The audiobook, titled "Silent? No, Sir," is a hip-hop coming-of-age drama set in a boarding school, following five girls on a journey toward freedom. The work recreates the distinctive voices and speech patterns of DSP Media girl group YOUNG POSSE through AI voice technology while combining immersive spatial-audio production to enhance realism and listener engagement.
Beyond RBW's own efforts to expand its IP portfolio outside the music business, the project offers a meaningful example for the broader industry. It demonstrates how K-pop content can evolve into diverse forms through cooperation among multiple stakeholders without relying on massive capital investment.
Building on the initiative, RBW is expected to explore additional opportunities in the global enter-tech market, including multilingual audiobook productions and other AI-driven content formats.
The audiobook "Silent? No, Sir," which combines fan-created storytelling with the AI voices of YOUNG POSSE, officially launched on May 28 through the Kyobo Book Centre audiobook platform.
