Director Yeon Sang-ho's Colony continued its overwhelming box-office dominance despite a wave of new releases entering theaters.
According to the Korean Film Council's integrated ticketing network on May 28, Colony attracted 209,439 moviegoers on May 27, remaining No. 1 at the box office for a seventh consecutive day. Its cumulative audience now stands at 2,378,524.
Colony follows survivors trapped inside a quarantined building during a mysterious outbreak, battling infected beings that evolve into unpredictable forms. The film stars Jun Ji-hyun, Koo Kyo-hwan, Ji Chang-wook, Shin Hyun-been, Kim Shin-rok, and Ko Soo.
Backroom debuted in second place with 54,107 admissions on opening day, bringing its cumulative total to 54,635. The film follows Clark and Mary as they confront inexplicable events inside a bizarre space filled with yellow walls and endless fluorescent lights.
Michael ranked third with 34,492 admissions, pushing its cumulative audience to 1,239,681. The biographical film chronicles the rise of Michael Jackson, capturing the legendary music and electrifying performances that made him the King of Pop.
Fourth place went to The Mandalorian and Grogu, which opened with 26,242 admissions for a cumulative total of 27,634. The blockbuster adventure follows bounty hunter Din Djarin, played by Pedro Pascal, and Grogu as they embark on a galaxy-spanning mission that could change their destiny.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 rounded out the Top 5 with 5,334 admissions, raising its cumulative audience to 1,569,734. The sequel reunites Miranda, Andy, and Emily as they battle for influence in a dramatically transformed fashion and media industry.
