“Next What” Brings Artists Together for a Concert Beyond the Stage

A charity concert supporting the construction of a vocational school in Yangon, Myanmar, titled "Next What: After the Nest," will be held on June 13 at CTS Art Hall in Noryangjin, Seoul.

The event is organized by Korea Art, with the Korea ASEAN Friendship Association (KAFA) and worship ensemble His Classic participating as official partners. KAFA, a nonprofit organization under South Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has continued educational and medical support projects in Myanmar, adding greater public trust and credibility to the initiative. The collaboration also highlights a civilian-led model of cultural and humanitarian exchange connecting Korea and Myanmar.

The cocert lineup crosses multiple genres. Tenor Kim Hyunho and soprano Jang Eunjin will lead the classical stage, while musical actor Kim Soo and pianist Jang Yujin broaden the program’s musical spectrum. Performance team Shorippers, choir Big Choir and worship group Whole Life Worship will also join, creating a layered stage combining choral music, contemporary performance and worship music. All participating artists are taking part through talent donation.

The operational structure also centers on participation and giving. Organizer Life Worshipper provided advance sponsorship, while additional donations will be accumulated through a matching fund system tied to audience attendance. Tickets will be distributed free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis, allowing attendance itself to function as a form of donation participation. The organizers aim to increase accessibility while encouraging broader public involvement.

The concert is connected to a vocational school construction project currently being pursued by the Joseph Foundation in Yangon. The initiative seeks to provide vocational education opportunities for local children and teenagers while helping establish long-term foundations for self-reliance. Funds raised through the concert will be used for the construction and operation of educational facilities.

Kim Hyunho, head of Korea Art, said, “As artists from various fields have come together with a shared purpose, we hope the interest and support gathered through this concert will lead to meaningful change for children.” He added that he hopes many audience members will join the event and take part in sharing and support.

The concert is drawing attention as a new model linking performance culture and public-interest activities through the combined participation of artists and audiences.
