Four years after BTS’s Jung Kook captured global attention at the 2022 Qatar World Cup opening ceremony, another K-pop star is stepping onto football’s biggest stage. This time, it is BLACKPINK’s Lisa.
Lisa is set to perform at the opening event for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States on June 12 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. The performance will take place ahead of the match between the United States and Paraguay, with Lisa joining an international lineup that includes Katy Perry, Future, Anitta, Rema, and Tyla.
The 2026 tournament will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. FIFA plans separate opening celebrations across the host nations, but the Los Angeles stage is drawing particular attention as one of the tournament’s highest-profile opening events.
Lisa’s appearance marks another milestone for K-pop on the global stage. More than a guest appearance, her placement alongside some of the world’s biggest pop stars underscores her growing stature as a global solo artist.
Since debuting with BLACKPINK in 2016, Lisa has steadily expanded her presence beyond group activities. After launching her own label, LLOUD, she accelerated her international solo career, building momentum through chart success, large-scale performances, and worldwide recognition.
Details regarding her setlist and potential participation in an official World Cup soundtrack have not yet been revealed. Even so, anticipation is already building around what kind of performance Lisa will bring to Los Angeles as global attention turns toward the opening stage.
