Phantom Lawyer concluded with a finale that delivered both justice and romance, bringing its long-running revenge narrative to an emotional close.
The final episode, aired May 2, followed Shin Yi-rang (Yoo Yeon-seok) as he finally cleared his father’s name and revealed the truth buried for 22 years. At the same time, his relationship with Han Na-hyun (Esom) reached its emotional conclusion, ending the series on a warm and hopeful note.
In the episode, Yi-rang overturned the situation during his final confrontation involving the Saryonghoe organization by recovering crucial evidence. The truth, long distorted by corruption and power struggles, was ultimately exposed, and those at the center of the crime could no longer escape legal judgment. The perpetrators’ refusal to show remorse added lingering bitterness to the conclusion.
One of the most emotional moments came through the reunion between father and son. Shin Gi-jung (Choi Won-young), who had suffered an unjust death, finally regained his honor through his son’s determination. His final farewell with the family carried restrained but powerful emotion, quietly bringing a long journey to an end.
The romance also shined in the closing moments. Yi-rang and Na-hyun confirmed their trust in one another before sharing a kiss beneath falling snow on Christmas. The scene carried greater meaning as the completion of a relationship built on understanding an unseen existence and remaining by each other’s side until the very end.
The drama distinguished itself by blending supernatural fantasy with courtroom storytelling. Through a lawyer character who crossed the boundary between the living and the dead to resolve lingering injustice, the series expanded beyond traditional genre conventions.
The direction also earned praise for balancing tone effectively. Humor and action were woven naturally between heavier storylines, sustaining immersion throughout the series. Yoo Yeon-seok, in particular, anchored the drama by portraying multiple emotional layers within a single character.
Ultimately, Phantom Lawyer left behind more than a simple crime-solving narrative. It delivered the message that even when the world turns away, one unwavering believer can help someone rise again. That accumulated faith became the foundation of the drama’s final emotional resonance.
The finale achieved peak ratings of 9.7 percent and a 3.08 percent peak among the 20–49 demographic, closing the series on a strong note.
