Veteran actors Jung Woong-in, Ahn Gil-kang, and Jung Jae-sung bring heavyweight presence to "The Legend of Kitchen Soldier," heightening tension at the Gangrim outpost.
Jung Woong-in plays Lieutenant Colonel Baek Chun-ik, the battalion commander of the 1st Battalion. Known for his warm smile and gentlemanly demeanor, Baek prides himself on listening to his soldiers and working for their well-being. A humanist at heart, he values hearty home-cooked meals and believes in boosting morale through food.
Ahn Gil-kang takes on the role of Colonel Bae Won-young, commander of the 60th Regiment, delivering a commanding presence befitting a career soldier. His bold personality matches his imposing aura, yet he is also an extremely demanding gourmet, adding another layer of pressure to the unit’s cooks.
Jung Jae-sung portrays Major General Kim In-tae, the division commander of the 29th Division. While outwardly warm, Kim is known for his cold decisiveness. A top-tier gourmet alongside Bae Won-young, he maintains an unreadable poker face, making it nearly impossible to gauge his judgment before he speaks.
Together, these three elite leaders combine military authority with refined taste, closely observing the evolving meals at Gangrim outpost. Their presence places intense pressure on Private Kang Sung-jae (Park Ji-hoon) and the cooking unit, raising anticipation over how they will evaluate the so-called “food revolution.”
"The Legend of Kitchen Soldier" follows a rookie soldier who swaps a rifle for a kitchen knife as he rises to become a legendary military cook. Based on a popular Naver webtoon, the series premieres May 11 at 8:50 p.m. on TVING and tvN.
