Salmokji continues its box office dominance, holding the top spot for 14 consecutive days.
According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated ticketing system on April 22, Salmokji drew 39,692 viewers on April 21, maintaining No.1. Its cumulative audience has reached 1,548,508.
The horror film follows a mysterious figure captured on a road-view image at Salmokji, leading a film crew back to a reservoir for reshoots, where they encounter something lurking in the dark depths of the water.
Project Hail Mary ranked second with 14,892 viewers, bringing its cumulative total to 2,329,034.
The film centers on a scientist who wakes up alone aboard a spacecraft with no memory and must carry out a final mission to prevent humanity’s extinction. It is based on the novel by Andy Weir, author of The Martian.
The King's Warden placed third with 13,628 viewers, pushing its cumulative total to 16,617,488. The film remains No.2 on the all-time Korean box office chart, surpassing Extreme Job (16,266,641).
Set in 1457 at Cheongnyeongpo, the film tells the story of a village leader who voluntarily chooses exile for the revival of his community and a young deposed king sent into exile.
My Name ranked fourth with 9,798 viewers, bringing its cumulative total to 118,653.
The mystery drama interweaves the story of an 18-year-old boy, Young-ok, who seeks to erase his outdated name in 1998, and his mother Jeong-sun, who confronts long-buried memories from Jeju in 1949.
Meanwhile, the documentary Ran 12.3, which depicts a state of emergency, and AUDITION 109, the sequel to Wind, starring Jung Woo, open on April 22. As of 8 a.m., Ran 12.3 recorded 45,060 advance bookings, while AUDITION 109 followed with 39,158, ranking No.2 and No.3 in reservations.
