Salmokji maintained its box office dominance for seven consecutive days, becoming the fastest film this year to surpass its break-even point.
According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated ticketing system on April 15, Salmokji drew 64,684 viewers on April 14, securing the No.1 position once again. Its cumulative audience has reached 862,327.
The horror film follows a mysterious figure captured on a road-view image at Salmokji, leading a film crew back to a reservoir for reshoots, where they encounter something lurking in the dark depths of the water. The film stars Kim Hye-yoon, Lee Jong-won, Kim Jun-han, Kim Young-sung, Oh Dong-min, Yoon Jae-chan, and Jang Da-a.
The King's Warden held onto second place with 23,846 viewers, bringing its cumulative total to 16,444,907. The film continues to rank No.2 on the all-time Korean box office chart, surpassing Extreme Job (16,266,641).
Set in 1457 at Cheongnyeongpo, the film tells the story of a village leader who voluntarily chooses exile for the revival of his community and a young deposed king sent into exile.
Project Hail Mary placed third with 21,012 viewers, pushing its cumulative total to 2,086,155.
The film centers on a scientist who wakes up alone aboard a spacecraft with no memory and must carry out a final mission to prevent humanity’s extinction. It is based on the novel by Andy Weir, author of The Martian.
My Name entered the chart at No.4 with 1,945 viewers, reaching a total of 8,320.
The mystery drama interweaves the story of an 18-year-old boy, Young-ok, who wants to erase his outdated name in 1998, and his mother Jeong-sun, who confronts long-buried memories from Jeju in 1949.
Crime 101 followed in fifth place, drawing 1,880 viewers for a cumulative total of 17,750.
Set in Los Angeles, the thriller follows intersecting desires and crimes surrounding a diamond heist.
