Actor Jang Dong-yoon takes on a new challenge as a director. His first feature-length film is Nuruk.
Set for a Megabox exclusive release on April 15, Nuruk tells the story of Dasul, the daughter of a locally renowned brewery. One day, she notices a change in the taste of makgeolli and sets out to find “nuruk,” the essential ingredient that has gone missing.
The main poster, released ahead of the premiere, captures attention with Dasul (Kim Seung-yoon) staring straight ahead with a desperate expression. Holding a bottle of makgeolli close as if it were something precious, the image is paired with the line, “Do you have something that means everything to you?”, hinting at the emotional depth of the story.
Set against a clear sky, the poster’s delicate visual elements highlight the film’s warm tone. Footsteps stretching across a pastel purple background and a small white truck suggest the special journey Dasul is about to undertake, creating a gentle mood fitting for spring.
Jang previously made his directorial debut with the 2023 short film Be My Ears. Nuruk marks his first feature film in three years and draws attention for its use of makgeolli as a distinctly Korean subject.
Director Lee Tae-dong, known for Jocjocso (Good Good Company) and Chief Kang, joins the project as a producer. The cast includes Kim Seung-yoon, who appeared in For Eagle Brothers, A Traveler’s Needs, in water, and Lucky Chan-sil, along with Song Ji-hyuk, known for Trigger and S Line, and Park Myung-hoon, who starred in Parasite and Crash Landing on You.
