MBC’s Friday-Saturday drama In Your Radiant Season signed off with a quiet but decisive emotional resolution, bringing long-buried truths to the surface and restoring fractured relationships.

The April 3 finale untangled the web of distorted memories surrounding Song Ha-ran (Lee Sung-kyung) and Sun Woo-chan (Chae Jong-hyeop), culminating in a revelation that reframed the entire narrative.

Woo-chan, who vanished after submitting his resignation, had in fact spent years preparing to confront the truth. As Ha-ran followed his trail, she came to understand that whatever he had concealed, it was never rooted in malice, but in guilt he did not deserve.

The pivotal shift came with the reconstruction of the Boston explosion from seven years earlier. Through Cha Soo-jin’s confession, it was revealed that the incident stemmed from Kang Hyuk-chan’s accidental mistake. The explosion claimed his life and left Woo-chan gravely injured, overturning the long-held belief that Woo-chan was responsible. He had been the victim.

With that truth restored, the emotional axis of the drama realigned. Ha-ran pieced together Woo-chan’s past through his recovered drawing pad, uncovering both his long-suppressed feelings and the fact that she had once saved him twice. Their reunion in Gangneung marked the emotional peak, as Ha-ran released him from years of guilt with a single line: “It wasn’t your fault.”

The resolution extended into the future. Following surgery, Woo-chan proposed, asking Ha-ran to share every season of his life ahead. Around them, other relationships also found closure, from Kim Na-na and Park Man-jae’s late-life marriage to the younger couples stepping into new beginnings.

Built around the motif of “one inch of memory,” the series sustained a character-driven emotional arc, anchored by restrained yet precise performances from its cast. Despite modest ratings throughout its run, the finale closed at 3.1%, delivering a thematically coherent ending centered on memory, accountability, and healing.
