Shin Hyun-joon is set to make his big-screen return this June, headlining the action-comedy Wanted with a performance that moves between intensity and humor.
In the film, an ordinary civilian named Hyun-jun is drawn into an unexpected manhunt after becoming entangled with Cheol-gu, a wanted criminal who looks exactly like him. As the situation spirals, Hyun-jun teams up with the police and is thrust into a high-stakes chase that blurs the line between hunter and hunted.
Blending a doppelgänger premise with fast-paced pursuit sequences, Wanted builds its appeal on tonal contrast. The teaser, released on April 1, opens with gritty action and a noir-like atmosphere, reinforced by the line, "There’s nowhere left to run." Yet the tension pivots sharply in its final beat, where Shin’s unexpected visual transformation delivers a comedic twist that reframes the entire narrative.
Set against backdrops in both Korea and Taiwan, the film expands its scale through international locations while layering action, investigation, and romance into a single storyline. The cast includes Kim Byung-man, Bae Woo-hee, and Taiwanese actress Regina Lei, each contributing to the film’s genre-spanning energy.
Directed by Shin Dong-yup, known for 100 Days with Mr. Arrogant (2004) and Untouchable Lawmen (2015), the project highlights Shin Hyun-joon’s dual performance as both the mild-mannered Hyun-jun and the fugitive Cheol-gu, positioning the film as a character-driven action piece with a comedic edge.
