The stage comedy “Mrs. Markham,” a signature work by renowned British playwright Ray Cooney, is set to return to Daehangno with an encore production.
The play will open on April 29 at The Good Theater, centering on a chaotic night in which three couples simultaneously arrive at an empty house, triggering a chain of misunderstandings. The production blends classic British farce with Korean comedic sensibilities, delivering both familiarity and fresh appeal.
Having recorded a 9.8 audience rating during its initial run, the play drew acclaim for its rapid pacing, tightly structured dialogue, and the cast’s precise comedic timing.
For the encore, original cast members — Yoo Sun, Song Jae-hee, Oh Min-suk, Lee Soon-won, and Kim Ji-sun — reunite, building on their proven chemistry to deliver more refined timing and heightened character dynamics.
At its core, the play thrives on rhythm-driven comedy rooted in misunderstanding and timing, where split-second reactions define the flow. With an experienced cast returning, expectations are high for a more polished and energetic performance.
Direction is once again handled by Min Yeon-hong, known for works including “Last Summer,” “Royal Road,” “Insider,” and “Missing.” He noted that the production aims to offer a space where audiences of all generations can laugh and relate amid the fatigue of everyday life.
