The film Jjanggu will be released in theaters on April 22, continuing the story of the character first introduced in Wish, widely known as an unofficial 10-million-view hit.
The film follows Jjanggu (Jung Woo), an aspiring actor who endures repeated setbacks but refuses to give up on his dream. Despite constant rejection, he continues to challenge himself, determined to succeed.
Jung Woo portrays a young man living alone in Seoul, capturing both vulnerability and resilience as he pushes forward in pursuit of his goal. The return of the character is expected to resonate with audiences familiar with Wish.
The teaser begins with Jjanggu turning at the sound of someone calling him, followed by a sequence of auditions marked by the phrase “99th rejection,” highlighting the harsh reality he faces. Even so, he continues practicing and returning to the stage.
The story also introduces Min-hee (Krystal Jung), whom Jjanggu falls for at first sight, adding a layer of romance.
In the final moment, director Jang Hang-jun appears as an audition judge, asking, “Why do you act?” Jjanggu responds with silence and a resolute gaze, leaving a lasting impression.
Jjanggu will open nationwide on April 22.
