BTS leader RM delivered a detailed and deeply personal message following the group’s large-scale comeback performance at Gwanghwamun, emphasizing apology, gratitude, and the collective meaning behind the stage.
After performing “BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE | ARIRANG” on March 21, RM shared a full statement via Weverse, marking BTS’s first full-member performance in three years and nine months. Reflecting on the moment, he wrote, “After four long years, the seven of us stood together again and met you at Gwanghwamun, a place filled with meaning.”
RM first expressed gratitude to those who ensured the event could proceed safely. “We sincerely bow our heads in thanks to the police, fire authorities, and government and local officials who allowed Gwanghwamun Plaza to become our comeback stage and worked tirelessly so the performance could take place without major incidents,” he said.
He then directly addressed the impact on the surrounding area, offering a rare and notable apology. “To the citizens, as well as the business owners and office workers in the Gwanghwamun area who endured traffic control and noise, we are truly sorry and also deeply grateful,” RM wrote, adding that BTS would never take such understanding for granted and would carry that awareness forward.
Turning to ARMY, RM’s message grew more emotional. “To our everything, our pride, ARMY,” he wrote, before continuing, “Thank you for believing in us and waiting for us for such a long time.” He described the moment he heard the crowd’s cheers as overwhelming, saying it was when he truly felt that BTS had returned.
He also highlighted what impressed the group most. “Even in such a large crowd, the way you cared for one another and enjoyed the performance with maturity and order moved us even more,” RM said, extending his gratitude to global fans who joined the moment from afar.
Reinforcing the core message of the night, RM stressed that the stage belonged to more than just the group. “This stage at Gwanghwamun was not made by the seven of us alone,” he wrote. “It was completed through the dedication of those ensuring safety, the understanding of citizens, and the unwavering love of ARMY.”
According to HYBE, approximately 104,000 people gathered across Gwanghwamun Plaza and Seoul Plaza, underscoring the scale of the comeback event.
Closing his message, RM said BTS would continue forward with a sense of responsibility. He added that the group aims to create music with even greater resonance and expressed hope that the memory of that night would remain “a warm and lasting gift” in fans’ everyday lives. He concluded, “We were truly, deeply happy.”
