In Episode 3 of tvN’s weekend drama Mad Concrete Dreams, which aired on March 21, Ki Soo-jong (Ha Jung-woo) and Kim Sun (Im Soo-jung) formed a fragile alliance after sharing the secret behind a kidnapping case.
While fleeing, Ki Soo-jong abandoned his car after running out of fuel, escaping with a suitcase containing 3 billion KRW. He later returned to Seyoon Building, erased CCTV traces, and handled the cash, caught between relief from debt and growing guilt.
Kim Sun, who had witnessed the incident, chose not to expose him. Instead, she quietly assisted—informing him of Min Hwal-sung’s (Kim Jun-han) coma, guiding his responses, and deleting key messages to remove evidence.
With the money, Ki Soo-jong cleared his debts and secured ownership of the building. He attempted to return to normal life, even suggesting surgery abroad for their daughter. Kim Sun, aware of the truth, ultimately decided to stand by him.
However, a witness who encountered Ki Soo-jong during his escape emerged, creating tension. The situation was contained as the witness could not identify him, while Kim Sun provided a false alibi. The couple then confirmed the truth between them, fully sharing the secret.
The final scene delivered the turning point. While Ki Soo-jong slept, Kim Sun secretly answered a call from Yona (Shim Eun-kyung). As her redevelopment plan began to collapse, Yona asked, “We’re proceeding as planned, right?”—hinting at a hidden connection.
The episode recorded a drop in ratings from 4.5% to 3.1%. The decline coincided with a global live-streamed comeback by BTS, which likely affected viewership.
