Netflix’s action series Bloodhounds is preparing for a far more intense second round, as Woo Do-hwan, Lee Sang-yi and Rain collide in a violent showdown inside a global underground boxing league.
Premiering April 3, Bloodhounds Season 2 follows Gun-woo (Woo Do-hwan) and Woo-jin (Lee Sang-yi), who previously dismantled a ruthless loan-sharking operation. This time, the duo step into a far larger criminal world dominated by illegal fights, massive gambling stakes and brutal power struggles.
Gun-woo returns more determined than ever, his hardened gaze reflecting the weight of protecting those he cares about. Woo Do-hwan explained that the character has undergone major growth since the first season. “Three years have passed in the story, and Gun-woo has matured both physically and mentally. I wanted to show that evolution clearly,” he said.
Lee Sang-yi reprises his role as Woo-jin, who now serves as Gun-woo’s boxing coach after their fierce rivalry transformed into deep brotherhood. Though he stands outside the ring, Woo-jin’s unwavering spirit hints that the fighter within him remains very much alive.
The season’s most striking addition is Rain (Jung Ji-hoon), who takes on his first major villain role as Baekjeong, the ruthless operator behind the global illegal boxing league. Describing the character, Rain said Baekjeong is “a cruel human weapon with no mercy.” Once a man who dreamed of becoming champion himself, Baekjeong instead built an underground empire and now rules the ring from the shadows.
Director Kim Joo-hwan emphasized the strong chemistry between the lead actors, revealing that he has filmed more than 270 scenes with Woo Do-hwan and Lee Sang-yi. “They feel like family,” he said. “Their bond has grown deeper, and their brotherhood becomes even more powerful this season.”
He also drew a vivid comparison between the villains of the two seasons. “If Myeong-gil in Season 1 was the leader of a pack of wolves, Baekjeong is a massive tiger,” Kim said. “He hunts alone, more ferocious and far more lethal.”
