Pepo Music, the agency representing band Jannabi, announced on March 6 the final court ruling in a long-running stalking and sexual crime case involving its artist Choi Jung-hoon.
According to the agency, the perpetrator repeatedly posted malicious comments on Choi Jung-hoon’s personal blog “Jeongchun,” including death threats, demands for private meetings, and abusive language. Hundreds of such comments were left over time, placing sustained psychological pressure on the singer. The individual also appeared near the agency’s office, escalating the situation into ongoing stalking.
In response, Pepo Music filed a complaint through the law firm Hanjung on charges of violating the Act on the Punishment of Stalking Crimes and the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes related to obscene communication via media. During the investigation, authorities identified the suspect, and provisional measures such as a restraining order were issued to protect the victim.
In its final ruling, the court ordered the perpetrator to pay a fine of 5 million won and complete a stalking treatment program, formally concluding the case.
An agency official said the ruling serves as a strong warning against acts that infringe on an artist’s privacy and psychological safety. The company added that it will continue to respond strictly to defamation, insults, and the spread of false information without settlement or leniency.
Pepo Music also stated it will continue monitoring malicious posts through fan reports and internal systems so that Choi Jung-hoon can carry out his activities in a stable and secure environment.
