Still Shining is set to premiere on March 6, building anticipation among viewers. The emotional romance follows two young people who once became light in each other’s worlds as they navigate life through love and trust.
Writer Lee Sook-yeon described the project by saying, “The word I most want to attach to Yeon Tae-seo and Mo Eun-ah is ‘Shining.’ When they were young, they found comfort and strength simply in each other’s presence. As adults, they feel each other’s sincerity even more strongly than before. It is the same emotion, but expressed differently. I wanted to tell that story.”
The origin of the story began with an unexpected moment. Lee explained, “I happened to see the word ‘Facilitate’ in my son’s notebook and started asking myself what it means to be in a relationship that enables each other. From that question, the narrative took shape.” Through that reflection, the story of Yeon Tae-seo and Mo Eun-ah — centered on a healthy and kind relationship — was formed.
Attention to detail is also evident in the characters’ professions. Yeon Tae-seo works as a subway engineer, while Mo Eun-ah is a former hotelier. Their contrasting professional worlds unfold in and beyond Seoul. Lee noted, “A subway engineer is closely connected to the space of the city, while a hotelier moves across borders and time. These contrasting jobs naturally reveal the personalities and circumstances of the two characters.”
Lee also expressed strong satisfaction with the casting. “I needed an actor who could portray both warmth and loneliness in Yeon Tae-seo. When Park Jinyoung was cast, I even received congratulatory calls because he fit the role so perfectly. As for Mo Eun-ah, I cannot imagine anyone but Kim Minju. She brings the character to life with eyes that are both pure and intense.”
Finally, Lee added, “Yeon Tae-seo and Mo Eun-ah are each other’s first love and first farewell. Through this journey, they search for their own answers. I believe viewers will find moments of empathy and encouragement in their story.”
