The King’s Warden continues its unstoppable run at No. 1 during the Lunar New Year holiday box office.
According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated ticketing system on Feb. 17, The King’s Warden drew 537,175 moviegoers on Feb. 16 alone, maintaining its top position. Its cumulative admissions now stand at 2,859,816, placing the film on the verge of surpassing 3 million.
Set in Cheongnyeongpo in 1457, the film follows a village chief who voluntarily enters exile for the survival of his people and a young dethroned king forced into banishment. Directed by acclaimed storyteller Jang Hang-jun, the film brings together a strong ensemble cast including Yoo Hae-jin, Park Ji-hoon, Yoo Ji-tae, Jeon Mi-do, and Kim Min, delivering a powerful historical drama centered on the untold story of King Danjong.
Humint ranked No. 2 with 182,654 admissions on the same day, bringing its cumulative total to 886,491.
Set in the icy port city of Vladivostok, where both secrets and truths sink beneath frozen waters, Humint follows characters with conflicting agendas in a high-stakes confrontation. Directed by Ryoo Seung-wan, known for Mogadishu, Smugglers, and the Veteran series, the film stars Zo In-sung, Park Jeong-min, Shin Se-kyung, and Park Hae-joon.
Choir of God climbed back to No. 3 following a renewed surge in attendance. The film drew 30,220 viewers on Feb. 16, raising its cumulative total to 1,234,972.
The film tells the story of a fake state-sponsored praise troupe formed in North Korea for foreign currency earnings, unfolding a layered narrative set against political and human tensions.
Number One (2025) ranked No. 4 with 22,493 admissions on the day, bringing its cumulative audience to 139,644.
The story follows Ha-min, who begins seeing numbers decrease whenever he eats his mother’s cooking. When he realizes that reaching zero means his mother’s death, he struggles to prevent the inevitable.
THE DAY, DECEMBER 3, 2024 Fabricated Insurrection, Hidden Truth placed No. 5 with 570 admissions, reaching a cumulative total of 182,832.
