Exposing corruption, the courage of thief Hong Eun-jo

Living as a medical woman by day and a thief by night, Hong Eun-jo obtains a secret record detailing the corruption of Chief Inspector Kim Deok-han, played by Son Byung-ho. After careful consideration, she decides to deliver it to Grand Prince Lee Yeol, recalling that he once turned a blind eye to her past identity as Gil-dong.

Lee Yeol, however, had promised King Lee Gyu, played by Ha Seok-jin, that he would live quietly and keep his head down. He initially refuses her request without hesitation, but Hong Eun-jo’s sincerity and unwavering conviction begin to shake his resolve. In the end, Lee Yeol chooses to inform the king of the official’s wrongdoing, creating a turning point in the story.

A helping hand in crisis, Hong Eun-jo and Lee Yeol unite

As an unidentified epidemic drives patients to the relief shelter, Hong Eun-jo works tirelessly as a medical woman. When she learns that the shelter is at risk of being burned down by royal order, she seeks help from the authorities and evacuates the patients.

Upon hearing of Hong Eun-jo’s peril, Lee Yeol rushes to the scene without hesitation to protect her and the people. Acting from their respective positions as thief and grand prince, their shared pursuit of justice heightens the drama’s sense of exhilaration.

Rescuing the king’s women, a joint operation

After discovering that King Lee Gyu has been overworking court women, Hong Eun-jo and Lee Yeol carry out a daring theft operation. With assistance from the Queen Dowager, played by Kim Jung-nan, the Queen, played by Kim Ji-soo, and Shin Hae-rim, played by Han So-eun, they safely escort the women out of the palace.

Despite the king’s relentless pursuit once he becomes aware of the situation, the two rely on one another to navigate the crisis. By dividing their roles and responding strategically, they manage to evade capture and protect the women, simultaneously amplifying tension and immersion.

Having moved beyond a first encounter marked by misunderstanding, Hong Eun-jo and Lee Yeol now stand together against injustice as true partners who safeguard each other. Viewers are left wondering how their relationship will continue to evolve and what name it will ultimately be given.

The next chapter of Nam Ji-hyun and Moon Sang-min’s story will unfold in episode 13 of “To My Beloved Thief,” airing Saturday at 9:20 p.m. on KBS2.
