MBN’s baking survival show Cheonha Bakery: Bake Your Dream is showing unmistakable momentum. From ratings to domestic and global OTT performance and online buzz indices, the program is proving its explosive popularity across platforms.
Positioned as Korea’s first large-scale bakery survival series, the show goes beyond a simple cooking competition to spotlight the broader K-bakery trend. Episode 2, which aired on Feb. 8, recorded a nationwide rating of 2.3 percent, peaking at 2.7 percent according to Nielsen Korea. It also ranked No.1 among cable and general programming variety shows in its time slot for the second consecutive week.
Its domestic OTT performance has been equally notable. On Feb. 10, the series once again topped Netflix’s “Today’s Top 10 Series in South Korea,” marking its second straight week at No.1. It also entered the FUNdex TV non-drama Top 6 for the first time, as announced by Good Data Corporation, reinforcing its growing buzz and competitiveness in the K-content landscape.
International response has been strong as well. On Japan’s major OTT platform ABEMA, the show ranked No.2 in the K-pop category, while on global streaming platform Viki it reached the Top 5 in Southeast Asia during its first week of release. In Taiwan, it placed No.5 in the entertainment category on friDay Video, signaling expanding popularity across Asia.
Released in more than 180 countries to over 120 million potential viewers, Cheonha Bakery: Bake Your Dream has drawn enthusiastic global reactions. Social media comments include “I want to try the bread and desserts featured on the show,” “I’ve been looking for this kind of program,” and “The judges take bread very seriously,” reflecting strong engagement and immersion.
Domestic viewers were also moved by emotional moments. In Episode 2, contestant Jane Young, dubbed the “Queen of Donuts,” shared her story of raising a son with autism, prompting an outpouring of supportive messages. Meanwhile, judge Lee Seok-won’s sharp yet heartfelt critiques have circulated widely online as viral clips, becoming another key talking point.
The production team said, “We are surprised and grateful for the enthusiastic interest and support from viewers both in Korea and overseas. Episode 3 will continue with fresh structure and developments, so we hope viewers look forward to it.”
