During the Korean Lunar New Year holiday, KBS will present a diverse slate of special programs for the whole family. From variety entertainment to documentaries and feature films, the broadcaster is set to fill the holiday primetime schedule with festive programming.
In the variety lineup, global pop icon Stray Kids takes center stage. Airing Monday at 8:10 p.m., “Seolbim Soul Beam” follows the members as they time-slip to the Joseon era, taking on unconventional missions assigned by MC Lee Soo-geun and Jonathan. The show reinterprets classic games from the 1990s hit program “Family Arcade” with a modern 2026 twist, promising nostalgia for older generations and fresh entertainment for younger viewers.
On Tuesday at 7:40 p.m., “2026 Lucky Trot Festival,” hosted by Lee Chan-won, will bring together top stars of Korean trot music. Performers include Kim Yeon-ja, Kim Yong-bin, Kim Hee-jae, Song Ga-in, Park Seo-jin, Park Ji-hyun, and Ahn Sung-hoon. The program is designed as an interactive trot show, blending dynamic performances with audience engagement. Through trot as a shared cultural language, it aims to connect generations while offering warmth and hope during the holiday season.
The documentary segment also features compelling human stories. Actor Kim Young-chul hosts the two-part overseas Korean documentary “Global Korean Journey – Kim Young-chul Goes,” airing Tuesday and Wednesday. The first episode highlights Park Hyung-kwon, a leader in Atlanta’s beauty industry, while the second introduces Kwon Yang-baek, who led the relocation of a Hiroshima atomic bomb memorial. The series sheds light on overseas success stories and the enduring pride of Korean identity.
Additionally, at 7:40 p.m. on 1TV, the documentary “When Meju Blossoms” will portray the lively and heartwarming daily lives of three grandmothers with an average age of 78. Through their unwavering friendship after a lifetime devoted to their children, the program reflects on the meaning of the holiday and the value of family.
