Park Shin-hye finally flipped the board. The moment the identity of the long-sought internal whistleblower known as “Yeppi” came into focus, tension peaked in one of the series’ most chilling episodes yet.
In episode 7, aired on February 7, Hong Geum-bo, portrayed by Park Shin-hye, edged closer to uncovering both the whereabouts of the slush fund ledger and the true face behind “Yeppi.” The episode recorded an average nationwide rating of 7.5 percent on paid platforms, peaking at 8.8 percent, while ranking first among viewers aged 20 to 49 across all competing channels.
Geum-bo’s suspicions sharpened after witnessing a secretive encounter between Albert Oh (Jo Han-gyeol) and Bong Dal-su (Kim Roe-ha). Digging deeper, she uncovered a hidden traffic accident report linked to Chairman Kang Myung-hwi (Choi Won-young), revealing that Albert Oh was secretly investigating the mysterious death of his uncle. What seemed like a harmless cinephile turned out to be a man carrying his own buried truth.
The conspiracy thickened with the revelation that Secretary Song Ju-ran (Park Mi-hyun) had taken suspicious action on the day of the chairman’s death, acting under direct orders from Kang Pil-beom (Lee Deok-hwa). Each disclosure pushed the case closer to the heart of power.
Meanwhile, Shin Jung-woo (Ko Kyung-pyo) attempted to extract information about Geum-bo during a meeting with financial regulators. Though he argued for shutting down the operation, his discomfort at hearing her maligned betrayed lingering emotions. Their confrontation reopened old wounds, exposing unresolved fractures from nine years earlier.
The case spiraled further when Go Bok-hee (Ha Yoon-kyung) failed to withdraw money from her account, only to discover the funds had been transferred to Geum-bo’s. The shock deepened with the revelation that Bok-hee had been secretly holding the slush fund ledger, which was accidentally discarded by her roommate, sending both women into panic.
Despite a direct order from Director Yoon Jae-beom (Kim Won-hae) to abort the mission, Geum-bo made a final gamble, emailing the whistleblower herself. A reply arrived, leading to a covert meeting that erupted into a chase. “Yeppi” escaped, seemingly vanishing once more.
The true reversal came the next morning. Watching Section Chief Bang Jin-mok, played by Kim Do-hyun, arrive at the office, Geum-bo broke into a knowing smile. Without ever confronting him directly, she confirmed his identity as “Yeppi,” sealing the episode with a razor-sharp deduction that left viewers reeling.
Episode 8 of Undercover Miss Hong airs on February 8 at 9:10 p.m.
