The King’s Warden remained at the top of the Korean box office for a second consecutive day.
According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated ticketing system on February 6, The King’s Warden drew 91,740 moviegoers on February 5, holding the No. 1 position. Its cumulative audience has reached 239,281.
Set in 1457 at Cheongnyeongpo, The King’s Warden tells the story of a village chief who voluntarily chooses exile to revive his community and a young former king banished after being forced off the throne. The film is the first Korean feature to explore the hidden story of King Danjong. Directed by Jang Hang-jun, the film stars Yoo Hae-jin, Park Ji-hoon, Yoo Ji-tae, Jeon Mi-do, and Kim Min, showcasing a strong ensemble performance.
The documentary December 3, 2024: The Coup That Was Manipulated, The Truth That Was Hidden ranked second, attracting 20,041 viewers for a cumulative total of 39,873. The film was produced by Jeon Han-gil and directed by Lee Young-don.
The film Choir of God placed third, drawing 17,632 viewers for the day. Its cumulative audience has reached 1,012,113. The film depicts the creation of a fake praise troupe in North Korea formed to earn foreign currency.
Once We Were Us slipped to fourth place with 15,556 admissions, bringing its cumulative total to 2,401,944. The film follows Eun-ho (Koo Kyo-hwan) and Jeong-won (Moon Ga-young), former lovers who reunite by chance after 10 years and retrace the lingering traces of their memories.
Following closely, No Mercy: 90 Minutes held fifth place with 7,423 viewers for the day, reaching a cumulative total of 24,853. The film is a time-limit thriller centered on a detective (Chris Pratt) who must prove his innocence within 90 minutes to escape execution under a cold AI-based trial system known as “MERCY.”
