Lezhin Entertainment, widely recognized as a leading webtoon company, has officially entered the rapidly growing short drama market, armed with proven intellectual properties and the directing expertise of established film auteurs.
On Feb. 4, the company launched its dedicated short drama platform Lezhin Snack and released 10 titles simultaneously. The move goes beyond a simple platform expansion. By adapting popular webtoons and web novels that have already demonstrated strong commercial appeal on Lezhin Comics and Bomtoon, the company aims to redefine the standard for well crafted short dramas.
The platform’s biggest strength is its heavyweight production lineup. Director Lee Byung-hun of Extreme Job writes and directs the romantic comedy Dad Is My Male Best Friend, while Park Sang-min, known for the screenplay of Gonjiam Haunted Asylum, helms the mystery thriller Time of Salvation. Director Lee Joon-ik of The King and the Clown and Dongju has also confirmed his participation in a project scheduled for release later this year, adding further credibility to the platform.
Adaptations of strong original IPs also stand out. Park Ji’s Boys’ High School Boy, which ranked No. 1 in Lezhin Comics’ academy category, and Bomtoon’s top romance title The Reason I Fell for My Male Best Friend have been reimagined for the screen. Additional February releases include Peach Inevitable!, OX Yujeongnam, Small Castle Undying Flower, and Rabbit Hole, spanning romance, thriller, and melodrama for a total of 10 series.
To improve accessibility, the service introduces a monthly subscription model alongside its existing coin based payment system, allowing users to enjoy multiple titles with less financial burden. Account integration with Lezhin Comics further enhances convenience, a strategy expected to maximize cross platform synergy and secure early traffic.
Lezhin Entertainment said it will continue releasing original short dramas every month to strengthen the platform’s competitiveness, adding that it aims to present a new paradigm for the short drama market through high quality storytelling across genres.
The app is available on Google Play and the Apple App Store, with various launch promotions offered in partnership with Lezhin Comics and Bomtoon.
