A family with what producers describe as one of the most shocking cases in the program’s history is set to appear on Oh Eun Young's Report: Marriage Hell.
The February 2 episode will air as a special “Family Hell” edition, focusing on the deep wounds left within the closest relationships. Comedian Jang Dong-min joins as a special MC, and the first of five featured households, known as the “Aemo Family,” shares a deeply disturbing story that left the studio in stunned silence.
The son, who outwardly appears to be an ordinary breadwinner and father, reportedly shows extreme anxiety whenever he stands before his mother. “If I sensed even the slightest change in her mood, my body froze like I’d been electrocuted,” he said. “I even considered jumping because I felt I couldn’t go on living,” he confessed.
His testimony grew even more alarming. He claimed that CCTV cameras had been installed in his childhood bedroom and that he was beaten with a broom while asleep, and once struck with a recorder hard enough to require stitches. He also recalled being forced outside in only his underwear during the dead of winter, saying he “felt the fear of death.”
The mother, however, offered a sharply different account. She insisted, “After drinking, my son pinned me down and assaulted me. I was devastated,” breaking into tears. Their conflicting memories and long-buried resentment were further exposed through revealed messenger conversations, where the two exchanged irreversible words such as “You’re not my mother anymore” and “Hearing you call my name gave me chills.”
After three decades of pain and distorted recollections, both now point to the other as the aggressor. What truly happened within this family remains the central question.
The truth behind the “Aemo Family” will be revealed at 9 p.m. on February 2 on MBC.
