A new variable has emerged in the romance between Nam Ji-hyun and Moon Sang-min, heightening tension inside the palace.
Episode 9 of the KBS 2TV weekend miniseries follows the Queen Dowager, played by Kim Jung-nan, as she launches a quiet yet persistent matchmaking effort to unite Grand Prince Lee Yeol, portrayed by Moon, with Shin Hae-rim, played by Han So-eun.
Previously, the Queen Dowager accidentally witnessed Lee Yeol leaving the palace with Shin’s help, which sparked suspicions about their relationship. News that Shin’s engagement to Lim Jae-i, the son of Royal Secretary Lim Sa-hyung, had been broken off further clarified her intentions.
She ultimately summons the two and orders them to proceed with marriage. Lee Yeol firmly refuses, revealing that his heart already belongs to another woman and openly expressing his sincere feelings for Hong Eun-jo, played by Nam Ji-hyun.
Despite his rejection, the Queen Dowager does not back down. Newly released stills show her unyielding resolve, intensifying the pressure on both Lee Yeol and Shin. Their unexpected meeting in formal attire, marked by Lee Yeol’s resigned expression and Shin’s mixture of shyness and confusion, suggests their relationship has entered an unfamiliar phase.
Viewers are now focused on whether Lee Yeol’s devotion to Hong Eun-jo will remain unshaken and whether he can withstand the Queen Dowager’s relentless matchmaking campaign.
