BTS Announces Fifth Full-Length Album "ARIRANG" as Global Media Hail a "Return to Roots, a Perfect Narrative"

BTS is set to return to the global stage by embracing "Arirang," one of the most symbolic and emotionally resonant elements of Korean cultural identity.

According to BigHit Music on January 17, BTS officially announced the release of their fifth full-length album "ARIRANG" through the global fan platform Weverse at midnight on January 16, marking the beginning of their comeback countdown.

The upcoming album marks their first full-length release in approximately three years and nine months and will feature a total of 14 tracks. The title "ARIRANG" symbolizes the group’s identity as artists who began in Korea and grew into global icons. Through this album, the members aim to reflect on their roots and original intentions while expressing universal emotions such as longing and profound love through a distinctly Korean narrative.

This bold yet sincere artistic direction has drawn significant attention from major international media outlets, which have offered in-depth analysis and strong praise.

Forbes described the album title by stating, "The name 'ARIRANG' symbolizes BTS returning to their roots after a hiatus," adding, "It represents a continuation of their mission to connect Korean culture with global music fans."

Other media outlets focused on the emotional significance of "Arirang." Fashion magazine L’Officiel USA and music outlet Consequence noted, "'Arirang' is a song that deals with separation, longing, and reunion," stating, "There could be no more perfect title for the story of BTS and their fans reuniting after a long hiatus."

In addition, outlets such as UPROXX and Genius explored the historical background of "Arirang" and its nature as an "open song," expressing strong support for BTS’s artistic decision.

Meanwhile, BTS will officially release their fifth full-length album "ARIRANG" on March 20. Starting April 9 at Goyang Sports Complex, they will embark on a massive world tour covering 34 cities and 79 shows. The tour is set to include historic milestones such as becoming the first Korean artists to headline major stadiums in the United States and presenting 360-degree stage productions on an unprecedented scale.
