A bold kidnapping carried out in a public place, and the brutal truth behind a crime targeting a YouTuber with over one million subscribers, will be revealed. On January 17, SBS’s investigative program Unanswered Questions focuses on the shocking kidnapping and attempted murder case involving the popular gaming YouTuber “Sutak.”
The incident occurred at around 10:30 p.m. on October 26 last year in the parking lot of a large apartment complex in Songdo, Incheon. Two men dressed in black indiscriminately assaulted the victim with a baseball bat and forced him into a vehicle, taking him all the way to Geumsan County in South Chungcheong Province. The fact that the crime took place in an apartment parking lot made the incident even more shocking.
The victim, who was dramatically rescued about four hours after the abduction, was identified as “Sutak,” a popular gaming YouTuber with one million subscribers. When found, his face was covered in blood, his hands were bound, and there were clear signs that he had been strangled. He had suffered serious injuries, including fractures, after being struck on the face and arms with a baseball bat.
Even after the incident, the victim continues to suffer from severe trauma. He said, “Even when I receive food deliveries, I open the door holding a hammer in one hand,” adding, “The fear that someone might suddenly rush at me and attack never goes away.”
The arrested suspects were Kim, a man in his 20s known as a supercar dealer, and Park, a man in his 30s and a former non-commissioned officer (alias). Kim reportedly took about 200 million won from the victim, claiming he would secure a supercar for him, and later visited under the pretext of repaying the money before committing the crime.
Kim was known for brokering luxury car deals for famous YouTubers and BJ streamers, while flaunting his own wealth by driving multiple supercars. He had also presented himself as a “main sponsor” for certain YouTubers, donating tens of millions of won. The fact that someone who appeared to embody a glamorous success story would commit such a brutal crime over a debt of around 200 million won raises serious questions.
The case did not end there. About a month later, during the prosecution’s investigation, another accomplice, Min (alias), was additionally arrested. He is said to have provided the vehicle used by those who carried out the kidnapping and assault. Kim claimed, “Min was the one who first suggested the kidnapping and said we should take the money,” identifying him as the mastermind behind the crime.
However, Min insists, “I was unfairly implicated,” arguing that he had no knowledge of Kim’s criminal intentions. Kim’s family also stated, “We heard that Min was the one who suggested it first,” further intensifying the dispute over the truth.
As the three men shift responsibility onto one another, the questions grow deeper. Who is lying, and what kind of relationship tied these three together? And why did such a grotesque conspiracy targeting a famous YouTuber begin in the first place?
The shocking truth behind the kidnapping and attempted murder of a one-million-subscriber YouTuber will be revealed on Unanswered Questions, airing on Saturday, January 17, at 11:05 p.m. on SBS.
