EXO is set to showcase diverse emotional metaphors directed toward a cherished presence through their new full-length album.
On January 15, SM Entertainment revealed key details about three tracks from EXO’s eighth full-length album REVERXE, scheduled for release on January 19. The tracks introduced were “Back Pocket,” “Touch & Go,” and “Flatline.”
“Back Pocket” is a mid-tempo R&B track that creates a danceable groove with chunky guitar riffs and a funky bass line. Its lyrics compare the desire to stay closest to someone one feels irresistibly drawn to as being tucked safely into a “back pocket,” expressing an inescapable attraction with charming metaphor.
“Touch & Go” is a minimal pop track that blends rhythmic drum loops with arpeggiated synths and vocal chops. The song likens the process of falling for someone to a series of dominoes toppling one after another, delivering a sensory and vivid portrayal of emotional momentum.
Another track, “Flatline,” is a mid-tempo pop-rock number characterized by lyrical acoustic guitar melodies and mysterious synth sounds. It compares life to a voyage across a vast sea, portraying a single precious person as a “brilliant guiding light” within that journey, adding an emotional depth that resonates strongly.
Each of the three tracks employs distinctive metaphors—back pocket, dominoes, and navigation—offering a different emotional texture from the title track “Crown.” Together, they enhance the musical diversity of the album, which consists of a total of nine tracks.
EXO’s eighth full-length album REVERXE will be released in full on January 19 at 6 p.m. KST through major music platforms, and will also be available in physical format on the same day.
