“Undercover Miss Hong” takes viewers straight into the heart of Yeouido at the turn of the millennium.
Set in the stock market world of the 1990s, “Undercover Miss Hong” follows elite financial supervisor Hong Geum-bo (played by Park Shin-hye), who disguises herself as a low-level office worker in her early twenties to infiltrate a securities firm. The series blends retro office comedy with high-stakes mystery, creating a story that is both humorous and tightly suspenseful.
At the center of the drama’s core mystery is a figure known as “Yeppi,” who vanished after obtaining a slush fund ledger belonging to Hanmin Securities. To uncover Yeppi’s whereabouts, Hong Geum-bo secretly infiltrates the company. What begins as an internal whistleblowing case soon expands into a massive web of corruption involving Chairman Kang Pil-beom (Lee Deok-hwa) and the shadowy power broker Song Ju-ran (Park Mi-hyun), escalating the tension to a much larger scale of evil.
Particular attention is drawn to the intense psychological battle between Hong Geum-bo and the three individuals she marks as “Yeppi candidates”: Trading Department head So Gyeong-dong (Seo Hyun-chul), veteran manager Bang Jin-mok (Kim Do-hyun), and Research Department head Cha Jung-il (Im Cheol-soo). Known collectively by the nickname “Fire Truck,” the trio each carry different personalities and hidden secrets, and they are expected to provide critical clues that will shape Hong’s investigation.
Capturing the vivid atmosphere of late-1990s Yeouido, along with workplace corruption, sharp humor, and fierce psychological warfare, “Undercover Miss Hong” is set to premiere on Saturday, January 17, at 9:10 p.m.
