Crime action comedy film The Informant, starring Heo Sung-tae and Cho Bok-rae, is set to reach audiences at home.
The Informant follows Oh Nam-hyeok (Heo Sung-tae), a once-elite detective who has lost his passion, willpower, and investigative instincts after being demoted, and Jo Tae-bong (Cho Bok-rae), an informant who has long profited from selling information on major cases. The story unfolds as the two are unexpectedly drawn into a high-stakes scheme.
The film was selected as the opening title of the 24th New York Asian Film Festival (NYAFF), earning recognition for both its artistic merit and popular appeal. Production quality was further elevated with the participation of Han Sung-gu, CEO of Popcorn Film, who has planned and produced successful films across various genres including Love Fiction, First Love, Last Rally, Youth Comic, Love 911, Love Forecast, Pawn, and The Yellow Sea.
Notably, The Informant presents a fresh comedic take on the traditionally serious relationship between a detective and an informant in crime films. While Oh Nam-hyeok and Jo Tae-bong appear to work as a team on the surface as they investigate a smuggling ring, each harbors different motives beneath, leading to constant friction. The zero-teamwork partnership between Heo Sung-tae and Cho Bok-rae delivers much of the film’s humor through their clashing chemistry.
However, after its theatrical release on Dec. 3, the film attracted a total of 160,000 moviegoers.
Beginning Jan. 2, The Informant will be available not only in theaters but also across multiple online and mobile platforms, including IPTV services (Genie TV, Btv, U+tv), digital cable TV (Home Choice), OTT platforms (Wavve, Watcha, YouTube, Apple TV), and satellite broadcasting (Skylife).
