A vibrant rhythm of Korean traditional culture spreads through Incheon International Airport. The National Heritage Promotion Agency, together with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Incheon International Airport Corporation, presents the intangible heritage special performance The Line: Heritage Groove at Terminal 2 from December 17 to 19.
The performance is held twice a day at the Node Plaza on the east side of Terminal 2’s duty-free zone on the third floor. Centered on the theme of the “line” that connects traditional heritage with modern sensibilities, the stage infuses the symbolic space of the airport with the continuity and expansiveness of Korean culture. It offers travelers headed to destinations around the world an effortless introduction to the present of Korean tradition.
The stage presents a balanced blend of Korean traditional dance aesthetics and energy. From the dignified court dance Taepyeongmu, to the mysterious and dynamic Cheoyongmu, to Bongsan Talchum—one of Korea’s UNESCO-listed mask dances—the performance showcases rhythms and grooves alive with heritage. Controlled lines and vibrant movement merge to add a fresh tension to the everyday flow of the airport.
The program is designed so that even audiences unfamiliar with traditional dance can naturally immerse themselves. Brilliant traditional costumes and the unique dynamism of mask dance intertwine with the strong artistry of the National Heritage Promotion Agency’s performance team, creating a special moment within the travel experience.
Ahn Hye-min, head of the Airport Project Team at the National Heritage Promotion Agency, said, “We hope that sharing the groove and spirit of intangible heritage in the open space of the airport will leave travelers with a memorable impression of Korean culture.”
