“I’ll bring two more next year.” The final stop of a 39-show world tour was not an ending, but a promise. Through his Seoul encore concerts, G-Dragon brought together the full spectrum of his artistic identity while officially signaling the long-awaited “next chapter of BIGBANG” that fans have been waiting for.
On December 14, G-Dragon (G-DRAGON) held the second encore show of his 2025 world tour ‘Übermensch’ IN KOREA at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul. The performance marked the finale of a 39-show global journey that began in Goyang last March and continued across 17 cities in Asia, the Americas, and Europe.
◇G-Dragon’s Romanticism in Full Bloom in His ‘Hometown’ Seoul… A Feast of Visuals and Digital Art
The opening of ‘Übermensch’ was overwhelming. Appearing in a black crown and white coat, G-Dragon made a powerful entrance with his new song ‘PO₩ER,’ immediately commanding the audience with ‘HOME SWEET HOME,’ a performance featuring Taeyang and Daesung emerging through holograms. True to his declaration, “This is my real hometown, Seoul. I’m going to give it everything tonight,” the red-lit ‘MichiGO’ and the dreamlike rearrangement of ‘Crayon’ demonstrated the seasoned depth forged over 39 tour stops.
What followed felt like a media art exhibition. ‘Bonamana,’ set against a laser- and LED-driven digital portrait backdrop, and ‘Butterfly,’ with luminous butterflies filling the air, visually maximized G-Dragon’s signature brand of refined romanticism. The atmosphere surged through the flamboyant showmanship of ‘Too Good’ and ‘Who You?’ before reaching a peak with ‘Crooked,’ as the audience jumped as one, igniting the dome.
◇From ‘Boy’ to ‘Master’… A Genre-Transcending Growth Narrative
The mid-to-late portion of the show portrayed the growth of Kwon Ji-yong as a human being, unfolding like a musical. The silhouette-based performance depicting his evolution transitioned into ‘Heartbreaker,’ a collaboration with beatboxer Wing and Beatpella House that became a talking point at the 2025 MAMA Awards, delivering a powerful auditory jolt.
Genre boundaries were boldly dismantled. From the raw swagger of ‘BULLSHIT’ in a tuxedo, to the refined band sounds of ‘TAKE ME’ and ‘TOO BAD,’ and finally ‘DRAMA,’ where black-and-white ballerina visuals came together, G-Dragon freely traversed hip-hop, jazz, and classical influences, fully showcasing his artistic spectrum. His candid confession in a bridge video, “For eight years, I felt like a frog in a well, but that time became new motivation,” deeply resonated with fans.
◇“Next Year, the Full Lineup Arrives”… BIGBANG’s Promise Shakes Gocheok Dome
The finale centered on communion with fans and a promise for the future. Wearing a daisy backpack, G-Dragon moved through the audience singing ‘THIS LOVE’ and other songs, before summoning Taeyang and Daesung once more during the encore to turn the venue into a frenzied party with ‘WE LIKE 2 PARTY.’
The highlight of the night was undoubtedly the announcement of a full BIGBANG reunion. G-Dragon declared, “Next year marks BIGBANG’s 20th anniversary. We’ll begin warming up in the U.S. starting in April,” adding, “Next year, I’ll bring two more with me.” The members echoed his words, saying, “This picture (the full lineup) is the one everyone has been waiting for,” officially signaling 20th anniversary activities.
◇From ‘Experiment’ to ‘Proof’… The Evolution of a 39-Show Tour
Compared with the tour’s opening shows in Goyang last March, the Seoul performances demonstrated a clear evolution from ‘experiment’ to ‘proof.’ While the Goyang concerts functioned as massive laboratories showcasing cutting-edge technology such as robots and drones, the Seoul finale distilled embodied groove and style into a fully realized stage. Notably, hologram-based features from the earlier shows were replaced by the physical presence of the members themselves, completing a sense of tangible, real-world emotion.
While there were moments where live vocals revealed slight limitations compared to the overwhelming command of the performance, these were more than offset by the grand vision of BIGBANG’s 20th anniversary and G-Dragon’s seasoned stage presence. Transforming Goyang’s “half-success” into Seoul’s “certainty,” G-Dragon’s return after eight years concluded with a confident full stop, while simultaneously marking a new beginning.
